Notes:
(1) 6&8 Craigmillar Park. Completed construction of twin garage structure, upon CEC Planning Department indication, made in error at the outset, that the proposed development (23/03494/FUL) did not require planning permission. Planning Department admits failure (11 August) of due process. Planning Department to ask now for retrospective application to be submitted, with neighbourhood notification.
(2) Traffic Regulation Order Sub Committee (TRO SC), 12 May. TRO/24/34 approved, with double-yellow restrictions to follow. Resident pushback over June / July, with FOI request tabled. Local Councillors note the TRO is now legally in place. GPCC approaches Local Councillors (August) raising queries about some procedural aspects of the TRO SC decision at the 12 May meeting.
(3) GPCC has requested* a deputation at the 10 Sep meeting of the Transport & Environment Committee, to discuss how recognition of Community Council contact with Traffic Regulation Orders Sub-Committee can be strengthened. (* copied to Cllr. Mandy Watt, new Convener of the TRO SC.)
(4) Cameron House Avenue (CHA). GPCC submits a statement of opposition to CEC Estates Dept. advisory on a proposed purchase of land within a public amenity area adjacent to Cameron House Nursery (this building the subject of 25/03494/FUL, determined as granted on 1 June 2026). Copy received of CHA Residents #19-29 submission to CEC Estates.
(5) Contact made with Lorna Slater MSP, following her approach, to invite her to discuss her Parliamentary Member’s Bill on enhanced protection of Holyrood Park at the 21 October GPCC meeting.
(6) Liberton & District CC contacts (26 Aug) CEC’s Cliff Hutt* (and colleagues) to request urgent inspection and remedial action on worn-out carriageway markings along the A701 arterial corridor from Howden Hall Road, through Liberton Brae, Liberton Road, Craigmillar Park to Minto Street. Immediate CEC response cites severe funding pressures in city-wide road repair operations, but points to A701 route sections to be covered in the 2026/27 capital re-surfacing programme.
(7) Proposal to appoint a GPCC Data Protection Manager, from within the membership, to review current procedures on record and personal data management.
(8) CEC Common Good Consultation, Royal Observatory (RO) Car Park, Blackford Hill: UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) plans to upgrade the RO car park point to UKRI taking a lease of an area of land, held by the Council as part of the common good land estate. A public consultation is now live where members of the public and community bodies are invited to give their view on the proposal.
