Introduction

Your Ward Councillors and the City Council want to hear what you think about a host of issues; They need to hear what you think. Otherwise, your opinions on city life are just background noise. The Council’s Consultation and Engagement Hub is a rolling directory of online surveys.

Below we list a selection of the current survey activities on the Hub.

We ask you to take a look and to take part. (If you don't take part, you can't be counted!) Then contact us at mailto:secretary@grangeprestonfieldcc.org.uk to let us know your view on what was asked. (Keep it to a maximum of five lines of text though, please.)

15 July: CEC Forthcoming Consultation and Engagement Programme: CEC has recently published a summary of planned future public consultation and engagement activity. It provides details of the activities taking place, the expected date, the area of the city they are relevant to, and details of those leading on the activity. It stretches into H1 2026. While this represents the best available information, it is subject to change based on many factors and may be incomplete. You can view the draft programme here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xZnv9v2zSBx73CfyL6YXEkjuVQ2N4W8S/edit

For more information, on public consultation and engagement activities conducted by the Council, please refer to the CEC Consultation Hub

We’re looking for your views on our actions to end poverty in Edinburgh. These actions and our targets to end poverty by 2030 were shaped by the Edinburgh Poverty Commission, which published its findings and calls to action in 2020, following extensive engagement with organisations and citizens. At this midway point, the Edinburgh Poverty Commission are reviewing the progress made in the city towards the 2030 targets

Please share your views on Community Payback Orders (CPO). These are handed down by the Court to people to pay for their crimes as an alternative to a prison sentence. In particular, we would like to know what you think about the unpaid work part of a CPO, which replaced community service in 2011. This is when an individual who has committed an offence does unpaid work within the community.

The City of Edinburgh Council is developing its approach to Community Wealth Building (CWB). This is a form of economic development that aims to build a fairer and stronger local economy that works for everyone. It does so by supporting the creation and retention of wealth in local economies, and by giving local people more control over that wealth. The Council is currently developing a plan to set out its priority Community Wealth Building actions.

The Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership (EHSCP) is thinking about changing the way it charges people for services. This is because it does not have enough money in its budget to pay for the services it currently provides. We are looking at asking some people to pay more money for the services they receive, or to pay for services that are free at the moment. We will only ask people to pay more if they can afford to.

The Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership (EHSCP) are looking at making changes to the way we charge people for care that they receive. We want to hear from people who might be affected by these changes to understand how they will impact them before any decisions are made. No decisions have been made about this yet. If we do decide to make these changes, you may have to start paying for your care or pay more than you are now. However, we want to assure you that no one...

From CEC on 25 August: We have been working on developing a business case to expand the tram network in Edinburgh.

With a west to east route, from the Airport to Newhaven, now successfully running, we are proposing a north to south route.

The route would run from Granton, through the city centre, out to the Edinburgh BioQuarter and Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh via Cameron Toll, and potentially beyond into the city region.

Your feedback will help us develop the next stage of the project which is the Strategic Business Case for a new tram line.

While we have provided all the key information to help you complete this consultation, you can find more information and detail on the project webpages on the Council's website.

Read the supporting reports that have informed the consultation for the Strategic Business Case stage. This includes information on the process and timeline, work that has been completed to date, technical reports and frequently asked questions.

This would be a major development in the city’s public transport network and we want to make sure that you have the opportunity to have your say.
